This high quality and timeless towel collection is made from 100% organic cotton on historic looms in Imabari, Japan. The Graph towel is woven in a doubleface, the double weave has a fine terry on one side and is woven in a plain weave like a gauze on the other side. The organic cotton is bleached with natural orange oil and woven on a Toyoda loom, one of the last historic looms in Japan.

Each towel is dyed with vegetable dyes such as bamboo charcoal, coffee and black tea to create a spectrum of complementary neutral hues. Pre-washed with spring water, these towels are particularly soft and absorbent. Thanks to the rather light weight of the material, they are also ideal for travelling and sports.

STORY

Contex was founded in 1934 in Imabari, Japan, and produces its textiles using old traditional looms and weaving techniques. Compared to modern machines used for rapid mass production, this process is more time-consuming but shows better results in terms of absorbency, texture softness and drying behaviour.

All textiles are woven from pure cotton and linen without synthetic fibres. The products have different fibre content of linen and cotton. The fibres are cleaned with water flowing from Mount Ishizuchi. Natural orange oil is used for the dyeing process.
