Beschreibung
This Tetsubin kettle is an interpretation of a Japanese classic. It has a traditional look with typical cast iron details, but the proportions feel modern. Cast iron is heavy, but this kettle is compact and handy. Like many cast-iron products, this piece has excellent heat retention and even heat distribution. Iron kettles mellow the taste of water and maintain higher boiling temperatures than other materials. To prevent rapid rusting, this tetsubin is treated with an oxide layer after casting and the exterior is coated with bakeable Urushi lacquer.
This handmade product is unique and may vary slightly in colour, pattern, shape and size.
Each tea kettle comes in a cardboard box.
STORY
. Mizusawa in the city of Oshu in Iwate Prefecture has been a centre of casting production for about 900 years. The casting techniques that make up the core culture of the Oshu region have been passed down to the next generation, and useful everyday items are still made today. The carefully made tetsubin (iron kettle) is both functional and beautiful, and can be passed down from generation to generation if handled carefully.
It is said that water boiled in an iron kettle tastes soft and delicious. When water comes into contact with the iron surface, iron (III) ions dissolve in it. Iron (III) ions are well absorbed by the body, and consuming them daily allows the body to store iron naturally.
