Beschreibung
Soft and supple. Kattefot by Røros Tweed
This high-quality blanket in fine lambswool, woven in a classic twill weave, is supple and soft, and it has such a soft drape that Røros Tweed probably named it Kattefot (cat's paw) because of it. It is already a classic there, because Røros has been weaving Kattefot since 1988.
Fascinating are the three different patterns: in the middle a striped pattern, as an interruption a zigzag pattern, which is also found at the edge. In the corners and as a termination of the zigzag, a diamond pattern appears on the edge - a nice little detail that does not immediately catch the eye.
Care instructions:
Hand wash up to 30 °C with wool detergent, iron up to max. 110 degrees! Prof. Dry clean gently!
STORY
The Røros Tweed company is located in the mountain town of Røros, 600m above sea level. A textile factory with a history all of its own, as this is the origin for a special foundation.
It all started with the will of the director of a copper smelter, Peder Hiort, who bequeathed his fortune to the poor of Røros in the 18th century. The money was to be used to buy wool for distribution to the poor, who used it to make clothing and textiles, which were urgently needed in the cold mountain region. The home workers delivered the products and received their wages. The textiles were then distributed to the needy.
Many who had first received wages for the work received the produce back as a pittance. The will is still considered one of the most intelligent endowments in the north.
.The idea of the Hiort Foundation and its competences and quality standards was taken into a new era with the establishment of Røros Tweed. A central spinning mill was set up, but the weaving was still done at home, just as it had been for over 150 years in the days of the Hiort Foundation.
Today, all of Røros Tweed's products are manufactured industrially and with innovative technology to meet modern demands for quality and design.
Norwegian wool from pure Norwegian production and close cooperation with leading Scandinavian textile artists and designers make Røros plaids one of the most renowned Norwegian quality products.
.Røros tweed has been awarded the Norwegian Design Council's "Award for Outstanding Design" several times.
