Beschreibung

The classic Japanese mortars and pestles, suribachi and surikogi, are essential utensils for crushing and pureeing food in traditional Japanese cooking. The textured grating surface inside the bowl, allows for effortless grinding.

A suribachi is perfect for grinding herbs and spices, nuts and seeds or for making guacamole dips. The pouring nose makes it easy to measure out liquid preparations and the silicone ring on the base prevents slipping during grinding. The high-quality mortar is also wonderful as a serving vessel.

Made by a small manufactory that has been handcrafting suribachi since 1925, continuing the craftsmanship of the region's historic Iwami-yaki ceramics. Each mortar comes with a matching wooden pestle.

Each mortar and pestle is unique, which means that there may be variations from the version shown here.

    Care instructions:

    • After use, carefully clean the rubbing surface with a Tawashi brush, allow to dry thoroughly and store in a well-ventilated place.
    • Please do not use metal cleaning tools as these may damage the fine grooves.
    • Please do not put in the dishwasher
