Beautifully shaped Porcelain teapot set with wooden handle and lid. Each piece has pure and structural elements of work, simplicity and texture. The feel of Kiho's surface is a joy to touch.

Kiho Kang makes strictly geometric vessels and tableware by coiling and pinching. The slow construction of each piece forces the artist to work more deliberately, giving each piece a special quality and showing the time and craftsmanship that has gone into its making.
Kiho's work is both functional and aesthetic, and each piece works as part of a group or individually. Fired at 1280 degrees Celsius.

As all products are handmade, sizes and colours may vary slightly.

    STORY

Munich-based South Korean ceramist Kiho Kang makes strictly geometric vessels and tableware by slowly building up each piece. Kiho says this method forces him to work more deliberately, giving each piece a special quality.

Kiho strives for purity and designs with the goal that form represents only function. Free from unnecessary embellishment, each piece allows the user to experience the texture of the clay.

All in white, the playful piece has an unglazed matte exterior combined with a transparent glazed interior, which only enhances the pure and textural elements of the piece. The simplicity and texture of each piece show the time and craftsmanship that went into its creation.

Kiho Kang's ceramics are both functional and aesthetic, and each piece is impressive both as part of a group and as a stand-alone piece.

Kiho Kang was born in Jin-Hae, South Korea, and completed a BA in Ceramic Art at Kookmin University in Seoul in 2009, followed by a Master's in Artistic Ceramics and Glass at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences in Mainz, Germany. Kiho's awards include the World Ceramic Exposition Foundation Award 2008, the Cheongju International Craft Biennale 2009, the Justus Brinckmann Gesellschaft 2013, the Richard Bampi Prize 2013, the Albert Hauseisen Prize 2013 and the Modern Ceramic Arts Award of Korea 2009.
